Nomad Chique is a boutique visual design consultancy that specializes in the end-to-end design of consumer websites, information portals, transaction-based portals, and Web applications. The company offers small to medium-sized businesses high-end, custom Web design solutions using the latest technology and usability design practices that UX design has to offer. It also designs complete branding solutions, from logos and printed collateral to e-mail marketing, to create a fully integrated and unified brand standard.

Karen Fojas Lee, Creative Director

Award-winning creative director and founder of Nomad Chique, Karen Fojas Lee, is driven by both the science and art of good design. She creates compelling visual designs for Web sites and branding assets using a rock-solid, user-centered design process. Over the past decade, Karen’s experience as a marketing professional has given her keen insight into corporate marketing strategy and campaign development.

Prior to founding Nomad Chique, Karen was Marketing & Design Manager for Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa, where she designed and managed multiple marketing and visual media including print collateral, ads, e-mail blasts, packaging, retail merchandising graphics, and signage. During her time at Glen Ivy she also planned and art-directed photoshoots, managed budgets and numerous vendors and agencies. While at Glen Ivy, she received an Addy Award for her direct marketing business-to-business mailer design. Prior to Glen Ivy, Karen was a Marketing Communications Specialist with software developer, Auto-graphics, creating Web mockups, brochures, trade show graphics, and e-mail blasts for a variety of sales and marketing campaigns. Early in her career, Karen was an Account Executive for Digital Sculpture Animation Studios, an animation studio specializing in virtual architecture walkthroughs and 3D character animation.

Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from The Ohio State University. She also studied abroad at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee and participated in cross-cultural design work at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She continues to supplement her education at Art Center College of Design, Art Center at Night.

Other Work

Karen is also a Consulting Senior Visual Designer for Human Factors International where she has worked with several Fortune 500 companies on banking and financial portals, as well as corporate and government agency intranets. She recently became certified through Human Factors as a Certified Usability Analyst (CUA).

In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, photography, drawing, and sketching.
