This past weekend, I had the most amazing time working alongside some seriously talented folks up at Facebook HQ for Photo Hack Day 4. In just 24 hours, over 60 hacks were cooked up from scratch, all on the quest for some killer prizes. Hackers and designers were tasked with coming up with the best use of photo-centric APIs. People came with their own ideas and others came looking to work on those cool ideas. There were a range of hacks from web-based apps to mobile apps.
I had a few ideas but opted to work on a really fun idea from 3 friendly iOS developers from Shutterfly, Ming, Jacob and Puran. They had me at the name…Musaic. I was totally intrigued. Music + photos + mosaics oh my! Count me in. Musaic for iPad isn’t quite ready for the app store, but as soon as it is, I’ll let ya’ll know.
Sad news: I couldn’t stay to see all the final hacks but, you can read about the winners and highlights over at The Next Web in the article written by on of the 5 judges, Ken Yeung. We were mentioned under “Other Interesting Hacks” – cool!
GLAD NEWS: We won 1st place for the API prize from Sincerely!!!!! Yes that’s a lot of exclamation points, but I’m so proud of our team. 🙂 Can’t wait to get my hands on it so my little one can make some music with it. But first, I guess I need to get me a newer iPad…
